DODs FY20 Budget Request Will Fully Reflect Administrations Priorities DOD Official Says

first_img Dan Cohen AUTHOR The next budget request the Pentagon submits to Congress will have added significance as it will be the Trump administration’s first that will be fully shaped by the new National Defense Strategy, a senior official told Military Times. “’19 was certainly very much influenced by it, but this is going to now truly be all-encompassing. So we think the ’20 budget request is going to be incredibly important,” said Robert Hood, assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs. Hood’s comments come as the military departments face an approaching deadline for sending their draft FY 2020 budgets to DOD.Hood reiterated the department does not plan to ask for a significant boost in topline spending for FY 2020, following a historic jump in FY 2018. “If you look at ’18 and ’19 — two nice step-ups, in terms of funding. And the intent is there’s not going to be another big step up again,” he said. Navy photo by Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Aaron Lyonslast_img
