Kieron Deodat, 25, of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (WCB), was slapped with a causing death by dangerous driving charge and appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.Deodat, who is a sales representative at Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), is accused of causing the death of Jason Marques during a two-vehicle smash-up on Sunday, September 30, 2018.The charge read that on September 30, 2018 at Carmichael and Middle Streets, Georgetown, he drove motor vehicle PRR 4249 in a manner dangerous to the public causing the death of Jason Marques.In court on Monday, there were no objections to the defendant being granted his pre-trial liberty and as such, he was released on $350,000 bail. The case will continue on October 11, 2018. Meanwhile, also on Monday, Deodat appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer where he was charged for driving under the influence (DUI). He denied that charge and was released on $25,000 bail.Meanwhile, Deon Jerrick, who was the driver of pick-up truck PMM 528, which was also involved in the collision, was also granted bail by Magistrate Mittelholzer for driving under the influence.He was also charged for driving vehicle PMM 528 with glass tinted beyond the legally prescribed Visible Light Transmission percentage. Jerrick denied the charges. He was released on $35,000 bail. The cases will continue on November 14, 2018.
